DWDCQ Membership
DWD is a new discipline and DWDCQ is a new Club, formed to support members in developing their skills in this sport and promoting the sport itself. The Club has been proactive in assisting in providing ‘live’ routines for judges’ training and in providing input into the interpretation and refinement of some of the documentation concerning DWD.
We are hopeful that a number of dog obedience clubs, agricultural show societies etc. will, over time, be interested enough in DWD to run official competitions. However, a key role of DWDCQ in 2010, and into the future, will be the running of competitions. Without DWDCQ, a smaller number of competitions would be held, and hence there would be fewer opportunities for members to compete and gain their dogs’ DWD titles. While Toowoomba Dog Obedience Club has committed to supporting DWD through its first five years (of which there are only 2 years left), there needs to be commitment and support from those within the DWD community to ensure that the sport grows.
DWDCQ members gain access to the Club’s proposed training program at a reduced rate, and receive the monthly newsletter. They also form a supportive community. Most importantly, the continuation of the Club, and its ability to run competitions, is dependent on its having a viable number of members (a minimum of 50 members is required by CCCQ for maintenance of ‘affiliate’ status). So really, we are all dependent on each other, and joining DWDCQ is an important way in which you can contribute to the continuation and growth of this sport.
